The collection contains the personal papers of General Maytorena and provides an account of his role in the government of Sonora and the 1910 Mexican revolution. His account, "Mi gobierno en Sonora," is one of the manuscripts found in the collection, along with correspondence, broadsides, photographs, newspaper clippings and documents. Significant items from his correspondence relate to Venustiano Carranza, Francisco Madero, Alvaro Obregón, and other participants in the revolution.

General Maytorena was a participant in the 1910 revolution in Mexico.
